KOTA KINABALU: A group of freed Internal Security Act detainees from Sabah are likely to arrive home today.

Housewife Normahan Komlan, 26, said her husband Mohd Nazri Dollah had told her that he was due to arrive in Tawau on a flight from Kuala Lumpur at noon.

"He called me late Saturday, saying that he would be home only on Monday. Now we just have to wait," said Normahan yesterday.

Mohd Nazri and seven other members of the extremist group Darul Islam Sabah were detained in 2006 for being a threat to the nation. The seven were freed yesterday morning from the Kamunting detention centre in Perak along with six others.

Normahan, a mother of three, had said in a recent interview that the family was shocked because there was no indication that he would be released.

She was eager to prepare something special for the first family meal together after years of separation.

Normahan expressed her gratitude to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for ordering the release.
