MALACCA, MALAYSIA - In these days of scammers and fraudsters, it was a twist to the story of a lecturer being informed via SMS that she had won a RM350,000 ($145,032.67) Mercedes Benz.
Lecturer Siti Murni Salehan, 28, dismissed as a scam the SMS she received that she had won the Mercedes Benz E200K.
A few hours later during a break in lectures, Siti Murni, called her husband, Mohd Suhaimi Aziz, about the "scam".
Suhaimi, 31, reminded that the prize could have been from the Bank Simpanan Nasional premium savings certificates (PSC) that she had recently bought.
And as it turned out, Siti Murni's savings certificate, which carried the number 466773510, had indeed won the car in the bank's special draw for January.
"I could not believe that I was first-time lucky and won the biggest prize of my life," said Siti Murni yesterday after receiving the keys to her Mercedes Benz.
The Mercedes Benz E200K is one of the only two models of the car which is offered in a year by BSN for their PSC draw.
State financial officer Datuk Naim Abu Bakar presented the key at the Dataran Pahlawan Shopping Complex.
