GEORGE TOWN, Malaysia: Former communist leader Chin Peng has expressed regret over the Federal Court's decision to reject his last bid effort to live the remaining years of his life in Malaysia.

In a statement released by his solicitor, Darshan Singh and Co, here yesterday, Chin Peng, whose real name is Ong Boon Hua, said he was disappointed that his application to the apex court was dismissed on April 30.

Chin Peng, who is living in Bangkok, said his lawyers had done their utmost in the legal battles on his behalf for the last four years.

"My appreciation also goes to the international lawyers who had extended support to my case.

"They gave publicity to my case in the international arena," he said, adding that his gratitude was also extended to all friends inside and outside Malaysia.
