SEREMBAN, Malaysia: A weekend outing for a family at the Jeram Gading waterfalls in Jelebu yesterday turned tragic when an 11-year-old boy drowned.

In the incident at 4.40pm, K. Vijineswaran was believed to have been swept away by undercurrents. His body was found lodged in rocks about 10 metres away.

His family members rushed him to the Jelebu Hospital where he died soon after being admitted.

Jelebu police chief Deputy Superintendent Setapa Yusof said the boy had gone to the waterfall with his family about 4pm.

"While bathing at the waterfall, the victim's family suddenly realised he was missing.
"His father dived in to search for him and found him trapped in some rocks." -NST
