KUANTAN, MALAYSIA: A family of four got out of their multi-purpose vehicle in the nick of time after a collision with a motorcycle yesterday. The vehicle burst into flames in the 4.30am accident.

Motorcyclist Mohd Faiz Juljaili, in his 20s, died on the spot from head injuries after he crashed into a barrier. Pillion rider Siti Zakiah Zakaria, 16, was thrown off and suffered minor injuries to the face.

After the crash at Km199 of the East Coast Highway, the motorcycle landed in the middle of the road. The MPV crashed into it and dragged it for about 200 metres. The motorcycle's petrol tank caught fire, igniting the MPV.

Its driver, a 41-year-old finance manager, was on his way to Kuala Lumpur with his wife and two children. He sustained minor injuries while his wife and children were unharmed.
