Boy chokes on fish ball

JOHOR BARU, MALAYSIA - A Year Five pupil choked to death on a fish ball while having lunch at his home here yesterday.

Nusajaya OCPD Supt Abd Aziz Ahmad said that Diong Chang Xian, 11, had just returned home from school.

"It happened around 12.30pm at his home in Taman Melawati.

"The boy was rushed to a nearby clinic but health personnel there could not assist him," he said.

He added that Chang Xian was then sent to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital where he was administered emergency aid.

"Doctors at the hospital tried to resuscitate him but did not succeed," he said, adding that the boy's 64-year-old father Diong Kee Tee later lodged a report over the incident.
