A WOMAN'S eyes became swollen and her lips and body developed blisters when she was allegedly given the wrong medicine twice.

Harian Metro reported that Raisatunnajah Abdullah, 28, a clerk from a Kluang firm in Johor, first received the wrong medication from a private clinic on her company's panel for an eye ailment, which caused her eyes to swell.

Her worried family then brought her to the emergency ward in Kluang Hospital where she was given several injections and drugs to take.

Afterwards, her body temperature began to increase drastically and her lips and parts of her body broke out in blisters.

According to her sister Noraini, 31, she was admitted to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Baru for treatment.

"Not only can't Raisatunnajah open her eyes or mouth, she's also having trouble swallowing food, including congee," she said.

Meanwhile, state health director Dr Mohd Khairi Yakub had ordered the hospital to investigate the matter.

"This needs to be looked into to know the exact cause of her condition because it might be due to negligence.

"The family also has a right to lodge a complaint to the ministry for help in solving the problem," she said. -The Star/ANN
