KUALA TERENGGANU, Malaysia - An Indo-nesian maid of a Terengganu Umno stalwart and former state executive councillor went on a shopping spree with RM2,500 (S$ 1,025) that she had stolen from her employer, not realising that her boss was on her trail.

She was dumbfounded to see her enraged employer waiting to nab her while she was paying for the items at a hypermarket, here, yesterday.

The employer had traced the 22-year-old maid to the hypermarket after one of his neighbours alerted him of her whereabouts.

State Deputy CID Chief Superin-tendent K. Manoharan said the maid, who is from West Java, fled with the money and her belongings when the employer was away.

Supt Manoharan said the employer then apprehended the maid at the hypermarket and handed her over to the police.

She has been remanded for four days to facilitate investigations.
