Mon, Aug 17, 2009
The New Straits Times

KUALA TERENGGANU, Malaysia: The state government will launch a campaign to encourage the people to eat more mutton to increase the consumption from the current 3,500kg a year.

State Agriculture and Small Industry Committee deputy chairman Muhammad Pehimi Yusof said this followed a study which revealed that mutton consumption among Terengganu folks was only 7gm per person a year.

"Many people don't take mutton because of the belief that eating the meat can increase their cholesterol level, cause headaches and high blood pressure.
Muhammad Pehimi said this after opening a satay stall here yesterday. -NST
