KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia: The elder brother of a prominent drama actress and son of a well-known artiste was arrested on Monday night after police found several boxes of fireworks and firecrackers in his house.

A police team received a tip-off on alleged sales of fireworks and firecrackers and went to the 33-year-old businessman's home in Taman Seri Keramat, Ampang, about 12am.

After identifying themselves, the police team checked the house and discovered six boxes of fireworks and firecrackers stored in one of the rooms. It is understood that the items were smuggled into Malaysia.

Police said the house had been rented by the businessman and they were investigating the possibility that he might have been preparing to sell the fireworks and firecrackers during the Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri period. -NST
