Unimas student wins Miss Cheongsam crown

KUCHING, Malaysia - Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) student Pauline Lau, 24, was crowned Miss Cheongsam Charity pageant 2009 at the Riverside Majestic Hotel here.

The final-year accountancy student, who stands at 172cm, won RM3,000 and other gifts at the pageant finals last Saturday night.

College student Liew Sin Yi, 20, was the first runner-up.

She bagged RM2,000.

Jong Nhing Shuang, 22, also a Unimas student, took the third place.

She was rewarded with RM1,000.

Lee Chai Jen, 21, and Chong Hui Chung, 19, finished in the fourth and fifth spot, respectively.

Pageant organiser Alaric's Productions Co. raised RM60,000 from the event.

The money was donated to the Kuching Chung Hua Primary Schools' joint management board (RM30,000), Kuching Chung Hua Middle Schools' joint management board (RM15,000) and Sarawak Hun Nam Siang Tng old folks' home (RM15,000).
