PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA - Malaysia should not be blamed for exporting terrorists just because Noordin Mat Top was a Malaysian, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said.

He said blaming Malaysia for Noordin's activities would not help solve global terrorism.

"So whatever it is, we have to work together to fight the terror threat and finger-pointing will not help," he said at a press conference after chairing the Permata Negara committee meeting here yesterday.

Najib said Noordin, who was shot dead by a crack Indonesian anti-terrorism squad on Thursday, started his activities after being influenced by Abu Bakar Bashir, an Indonesian who at that time ran a religious school in Hulu Tiram, Johor.

"It is a global problem and not just of one country," he said.

Najib congratulated the Indonesian authorities for the success in wiping out a serious threat.

Meanwhile, national police spokesman Nanan Soekarna told AFP that Indonesia would return Noordin's body to Malaysia.

"The Malaysian Government and Noordin's family have requested his body so he can be buried in Malaysia. We will give him back to them."
