KUANTAN, MALAYSIA - A father of seven did not show any emotion when the Sessions Court sentenced him to 15 years' jail and 10 strokes of the rotan for committing incest with his 12-year-old daughter.

The 57-year-old fisherman from Kuala Tanam, Rompin, pleaded guilty to committing the offence at their raft house at Kuala Tanam, Rompin, about 10pm on Sept 4.

The girl was the third of seven siblings. The man was staying with his wife and children on the raft house.

He was arrested at Kuala Rompin on Thursday after his wife lodged a police report. The girl was taken to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan where checks showed she was raped.

In mitigation, the accused, who was unrepresented, told judge Habibah Mohamed Yusof he had repented and he had to take care of his family.

Habibah ordered the sentence to start from the date of arrest.
