MUAR: Two teenagers were killed in a crash during an early morning storm which also damaged 22 homes, shops and agricultural plots between Parit Bakar and Parit Jawa.

Muhammad Hafiz Ahmad, 16, and Mohammad Zairi Zainal, 18, who were on a motorcycle, crashed into a fallen tree along Jalan Bukit Mor near Parit Jawa at about 1.40am yesterday.

Hafiz died on the spot while Zairi died at the Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital shortly after arrival.

They were returning to their home in Taman Bukit Mor Baru after a late supper at a stall in Parit Jawa when a thunderstorm hit the area.

Parit Jawa village headman Nasir Kiman said the storm, which lasted until 3am, uprooted many trees and cut power supply to about 400 homes in several villages.

He said a house in Kampung Parit Seri near Parit Jawa was badly damaged by a fallen tree but firemen managed to remove the branches. -The Star/Asia News Network
