MALAYSIA - A decomposed newborn baby's head covered with maggots was found at a garbage dump in Kampung Banggol Permaisuri, Setiu, Terengganu early Monday.

Terengganu CID chief ACP Mohd Fuzi Abduri said the remains were stumbled upon by a villager, who went there to throw his rubbish, at about 1am, Bernama reported.

Police have picked up a 41-year-old housewife to help in investigations into the case. The woman had remarried her ex-husband a month ago, Mohd Fuzi said.

"It is believed that the body of the baby could have been eaten by stray dogs. The newly- born baby could have been left there one week ago," he told reporters.
