PETALING JAYA: Shah Alam PAS Youth chief Ahmad Sayuti Basiron has quit all his party posts amid calls for disciplinary action against him.

Of late Ahmad Sayuti has been under intense pressure over allegations he exposed party secrets to the media.

However, in his resignation letter, Ahmad Sayuti said he had made his decision so he could further his studies in Australia.

He sent the letter via email to PAS Youth chief Nasrudin Hassan Tantawi on Thursday.

Nasrudin dismissed rumours that Ahmad Sayuti resigned because of the allegations.

"The reason given by Ahmad Sayuti is valid, as he wants to be with his wife, who will also be continuing her studies abroad," he said.

Nasrudin said he was not aware of any complaint filed against Ahmad Sayuti with the disciplinary committee.

Asked if Ahmad Sayuti had also expressed his wish to quit as Shah Alam municipal councillor, Nasrudin said he was not informed of the matter.

"We only deal with party-related matters," he said. 'His post as municipal councillor is a state matter."

Nasrudin also said they would decide on Nov 14 whether or not to accept Ahmad Sayuti's resignation.
