Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat's son-in-law, Ariffahmi Abdul Rahman, is not off the hook despite his intention to resign as Kelantan Menteri Besar Incorporated chief executive officer.

Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail said, as required by law, any investigation initiated against him must be completed.

"A full investigation against him will be carried out in all fairness. The fact remains that he was appointed to the post and that there had been a report on his alleged abuse of power," he told the New Straits Times yesterday.

Gani was asked to comment on Nik Aziz's directive yesterday for Ariffahmi to quit the post he controversially assumed.

However, he had left it to Ariffahmi to decide on the date for his resignation.

Meanwhile, in the case of Nik Aziz's abandoned plan to perform the haj under "sponsorship", Gani said a probe would also be pursued until completion, as expected under the law.

He said although the trip did not take place, an attempted wrongdoing, should it be proven, was also an offence.

"Whether he has done no wrong or otherwise, the investigation must be carried out to the full."
