MP: Fatine should not fear coming back

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian transsexual Mohammed Fazdil Min Bahari should not fear coming back to Malaysia, said Kulim Bandar Baru MP Zulkifli Noordin.

The Member of Parliament from PKR said the 36-year-old Fazdil, who is now known as Fatine, should not fear any repercussions of returning from Britain.

Fatine, who married Ian Young in a civil registration ceremony in May, is facing deportation to Malaysia after her visa was rejected by the Home Office over an "incorrect" photograph.

A second application with a passport photograph with a white background as required, instead of blue, was submitted for reconsideration but it was also thrown out in October.

The pair has just submitted their third application for a "Right to Family Life" under the Human Rights Act in Britain.

Zulkifli said the Malaysian Immigration Department should not take any action against her but instead facilitate her return.

"Under Islamic law, the position is different if she is a 'natural transsexual', or what we call khunsa (a person with reproductive organs of both sexes)," he said.
