PETALING JAYA: A music teacher was charged at the magistrate's court yesterday with causing the death of a British national, Andrew Michael Murchie. Karen Khaw Phaik Ean, 35, was alleged to have caused the death of Murchie, 46, at her home in SS2 Seapark here on March 5. No plea was recorded.
Defence counsel Chan Weng Keng told the court that when he called the Petaling Jaya police station to get access to Khaw on Tuesday, he was denied permission.
Magistrate Ho Kwong Chin fixed April 13 for mention.
Murchie's wife, Catherine Chua, said she married Murchie in 2007 and moved to the United Kingdom.
They returned here in 2008 after he was laid off from his job and said that they started having marital problems and he moved out and rented a house in SS2 here. It was learnt that he had a girlfriend.
A post-mortem confirmed that Murchie died from a stab wound on the neck.
