JOHOR BARU: The three kindergarten children who were bludgeoned by a hammer-wielding attacker sustained cracks in their skulls of up to 5cm.

Johor Women, Family, Health and Community Development Committee chairman Dr Robia Kosai said that despite the injuries, the children were in stable condition.

"This guy must have been crazy as he attacked them with the claw of the hammer," she said during a press conference yesterday at Hospital Sultanah Aminah.

"Initially, one of the victims, Alex Tan, was bleeding at the injury area."

She added that Alex's condition had improved yesterday as the bleeding had stopped.

The other two victims are Vincent Tey and Nur Nadriah Nabilah Mohd Yusri.

Four neurosurgeons and five medical officers are treating the children.

Dr Robia said the children had undergone brain scans and had responded well when they were examined, adding that Vincent was expected to be discharged today.

Psychiatric treatment would also be provided to the children if necessary, she added.
