KUANTAN, MALAYSIA: As the search for 2-year-old Nisha Chandramohan entered its 10th day with news and flyers publicising her disappearance, her parents are deluged with phone calls and SMSes from both well-wishers and pranksters.

Wong Lai Lan, 21, said while she was grateful to the well-wishers for offering comfort and prayers for the safe return of their only daughter, the pranks pulled by some irresponsible people only added to their misery.

"I hope these people will stop their pranks. We are worried for Nisha and we hope anyone who has seen her help return her to us as we miss her very much," she said yesterday.

Nisha, who is asthmatic and can barely walk due to weakened muscles in her right leg and arm, went missing after she was taken out of her parents' home in Taman Bukit Bendera in Mentakab, Temerloh, on June 4, by her 54-year-old grandaunt who is mentally-ill.

Although the woman was later found wandering alone in the same neighbourhood that evening, she was unable to reveal Nisha's whereabouts.

Police conducted searches around the area for several days, but called them off after failing to get any lead.

The family continued with their search with help from RHB's programme of reuniting missing children with their families.

Its staff at the Mentakab branch had helped distribute 1,000 flyers and the bank had also posted the flyers at their four other branches in Pahang.

It also plans to flash the flyer on their network of ATM machines soon. -NST
