The victim, in her 20s, boarded the taxi in Damansara Heights at about 8pm on July 9 for a trip to Segambut. However, the suspect drove the taxi towards Plaza Damas, Sri Hartamas, and made a U-turn at the Jalan Kuching-Segambut roundabout, claiming that he was taking a shortcut.

He then stopped at a secluded spot near a housing area before robbing and molesting the victim.

The victim was later left at the roadside. She sought help from a passer-by who accompanied her to lodged a police report.
