KLANG: Spies who allegedly planted a recording device in the office of the Selangor Mentri Besar were caught in the act instead.

In turning the tables on the culprits, Tan Sri Ibrahim Khalid's political secretary yesterday claimed their faces and voices were recorded on the spying device.

"We saw the faces of some people who worked in the Mentri Besar's office and some others who had no reason to be there," said Faekah Husin at a press conference yesterday.

She added given the blooper made by the culprits, the job was not the work of professionals.

Faekah claimed planting the spying device was politically motivated.

"We can initiate action against these people, but those who put them up to it are still out there," added Faekah.

She said efforts would be made to identify the political masters who had instructed for the camera to be planted in Khalid's office.

The Mentri Besar had, early last month, stumbled upon the device hidden behind a window drape after hearing a beeping sound.

When asked if it was worrisome to have untrustworthy people working in the Mentri Besar's office, Faekah replied there was nothing to worry as there was nothing to hide.

However, security in the state secretariat building needed tightening, she added.

Faekah is heading a special task force set-up by the state government to investigate the spy camera incident.

The police have also been roped into the task force.

Faekah had held several meetings with police officers over the matter.

The task force is scheduled to meet Khalid on Friday for further instructions, as well as permission to question the people identified in the recording.
