PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia - Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen is expected to lead some 500 people on the Cuti-Cuti 1Malaysia Sunday Bike Ride @ Raub on May 6.
The event will take participants through 10 different locations along a scenic route, the first of several cycling packages in conjunction with the recently-launched Kayuhan Sihat 1Malaysia programme.
The group will cover 15km, starting and ending at Taman Tasik Raub.
"We want to make cycling a tourism product in Raub," she said at a launch event at the Tourism Ministry here.
Keeping in line with the push to promote cycling not only as a tourism product but also a healthy lifestyle choice, Dr Ng also launched a weekly cycling programme in Putrajaya under the Kayuhan Sihat initiative.
She led the inaugural run at sunset yesterday, cycling ahead of 50 ministry staff from their office to Taman Empangan near here.
The programme will be held every Wednesday.
