JOHOR BAHRU - IT was a pleasant surprise for gunshot survivor Paul Rajamanickam when the Sultan of Johor's consort, Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah, visited him at Sultanah Aminah Hospital here yesterday.

Raja Zarith, who arrived at 3.15pm and stayed for 15 minutes, enquired about Paul's health.

She also commended him for his bravery during the incident.

She later donated a hamper and some food items to Paul.

Present were hospital director Dr Rooshaimi Merican and Johor deputy police chief Datuk Ismail Yatim.

She enquired about Paul's recovery progress from Dr Rooshaimi and updates on the shooting case with Ismail.

Later, Paul said he was honoured that Raja Zarith visited him at the hospital.

"She asked about my recovery and said it was a brave act by me," said the 50-year-old security guard who is recuperating after undergoing surgery to remove three of the five bullets lodged in his body.

Paul said he wished to continue with his job as a security guard once he fully recovered from his ordeal.
