TOKYO (AP) -- Japanese petrochemical producer Mitsui Chemicals Inc. will double its production of polyolefin elastomer in Singapore with an investment of about 19 billion yen (US$154 million; euro113 million), the company said Monday in a statement.

The Singapore facility's capacity of polyolefin elastomer -- a resin used in the production of car bumpers and other products -- will grow to 200,000 metric tons a year, it said.

The plant expansion is scheduled to be completed in August 2009.
