With a little help from your friends, you could win a laptop in AsiaOne's latest online contest.

This has paid off for AsiaOne Click2Win's first winner Alex Chan, 25, who is now the proud owner of a brand new ACER Aspire laptop computer.

The beaming product controller of Credit Suisse brought along his two "team-mates" when he came to AsiaOne earlier today to collect his prize, which is worth over $1,500.

Over three days, he and his girlfriend, Ms Charmaine Ho, spent three arduous days tracking down the elusive contest banner. And on the last day of the contest, he enlisted the additional help of his pal Desmond Chan to provide an extra set of eyes.

Both architecture students and 24, Charmaine and Desmond, were thrilled over Alex's win. Barely a few weeks ago, Alex had wanted to buy a laptop but was dissuaded against it by his girlfriend, who asked him to try winning it off AsiaOne instead.

Alex has been a loyal reader of AsiaOne for three years, and finds the extensive local news coverage and homepage layout particularly appealing. He visits the free-access portal regularly to catch the latest headlines from around the world "to be in the know".

Occasionally he also visits AsiaOne's Wine, Dine and Unwind - which he says is one of the best local food websites - to check out Singapore's favourite restaurants and eateries.
