Army opens new training institute

Singapore’s National Servicemen (NSmen) have a new training institute at Jurong Camp II.

The opening of the new Infantry Training Institute (ITI) was graced by Minister for Manpower and 2nd Minister for Defence, Dr Ng Eng Hen, today.

Training programmes at the new ITI facility will employ simulation technologies to improve training realism and effectiveness. They also take in feedback from NSmen to continuously improve the training systems and methodologies, said a statement from Mindef.

Among the features of the ITI premises is the Automated In/Out Processing System which improves the efficiency of training administration.

During the tour of the ITI, Dr Ng also viewed some of its facilities, including the NS Battalion Planning Room for the training of NS commanders.

The ITI also has a business centre that provides facilities such as phone, fax and internet access, allowing NSmen to deal with urgent work matters during their ICT.
