When her children said winning a laptop through a contest was "not so easy", Ms Joanne Tan took it upon herself to prove them wrong.
For three days this week, the 39-year-old homemaker persistently scoured the pages of AsiaOne's Wine, Dine and Unwind section for the elusive contest banner, determined to track it down as many times as she could to win a laptop.
When she relayed the good news to her daughters Cheryl, 14 and Constance, 10, earlier today, they did not believe her that she has won a LACER Aspire laptop, and wanted to see the prize with their own eyes.
"I was telling my children that when you do something, you can't give up so easily," she said.
Ms Tan said it was a "bonus" that she won, because the whole point of taking part was to show her daughters that in life's pursuits - no matter the outcome - a sense of determination and resolve is needed,
AsiaOne is Ms Tan's default homepage on her internet browser, because she says it provides her with an extensive variety of local and global news at a single glance.
Ms Tan cannot wait to take her ACER laptop prize home to her children, not just because she wants to show them she has won, but to prove that persistence counts if one is dogged about getting what you want.
