Three young men left their belongings unattended while playing a game of soccer only to find the bag which contained their valuables missing when they returned.

The theft took place on Saturday at about 9.45am.

The trio, all aged 19, placed the bag at the lobby of a building in the Institute of Mental Health while they played soccer at a field nearby.

When they returned at noon, they found the bag - which had two mobile phones worth $230 and $150 and $100 in cash - missing.

In another reported theft, a 31-year-old woman and her husband received a shock early on Sunday morning when they woke up to find a thief in their bedroom.

The couple had locked the main door of their flat at Block 552 Jurong West St 42, before going to bed at about 10pm the night before.

But they did not secure the windows along their fourth-floor corridor unit.

At about 7am on Sunday, the woman was roused from her slumber by some rustling in her room. She then saw a man in her room and screamed.

The man fled at this and the couple did not give chase.

They later found that a handphone worth $350 and $44 in cash were missing.

The windows along the corridor as well as their main gate were also wide open.

The culprit is described to be of dark complexion and has short hair.

Anyone with information on these two cases can call the police hotline at 1800-255-0000.
