An unemployed man was charged in court on Monday with threatening a woman at a Teck Whye Avenue flat.

Teng Beng Chong, 53, is said to have thrown a television set and a knife at Ms Ang Lee Ping, 46, at about 2am on Sunday.

Asked by District Judge Eugene Teo, he said the victim was a friend and that he treated her like a "sister".

He was granted bail of $10,000 and told not to approach the victim.

The case will be mentioned next on Sept 24.
