The Straits Times

A man who stole 90 packets of potassium silver cyanide from his employer was jailed for six weeks in court on Monday while another got three weeks for disposing of the stolen property.

Kumaran Paduray, 29, a Malaysian, pleaded guilty to two counts of stealing 90kg of the goods from Premier G & U Logistics while employed as a tally clerk in the warehouse at Tuas Avenue 4 in June and July.

Three others are at large.

The court heard that after the theft, he handed the goods worth $2,145 over to Ang Lye Huat, 39, to be sold.

Ang, who was jailed for three weeks, admitted to selling the goods to Tsing Yi Enterprises at Kranji Crescent for a total of $9,500. He was given $200 on each of two occasions for his help.

The 90 packets of potassium silver cyanide have been exported and sold to China, apparently for mining purposes.
