THICK black smoke was billowing from a 31st floor apartment of Pearl Bank Apartment in No. 1 Pearl Bank when fire fighters arrived within minutes after they were called at 2.38am about the fire.

Two fire engines, two Red Rhinos or light-fire attack vehicles, two fire bikes, four support appliances and an ambulance were immediately dispatched there.

Residents of the flat had already evacuated before fire fighters arrived.

Fire fighters put out the fire in the kitchen and living room in less than 10 minutes.

No one was injured.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force is investigating the cause of the fire.
