THEY came, they saw and they liked what's coming up in new HDB estates.
An ongoing exibition featuring new public housing concepts has drawn 62,000 visitors in the past three weeks, and got most of them excited over what they saw.
The Housing Board's month-long 'Remaking Our Heartland' exhibition showcases new housing concepts for new towns like Punggol as well as rejuvenation plans for older estates like Yishun and Queenstown.
Among the highlights are plans to make Punggol a waterfront town, with a shopping complex integrated with housing and a bus interchange at Yishun town centre.
Cutting-edge concepts by private architects for Queenstown are also on display. Visitors have so far completed 7,500 surveys.
Of these, 58 per cent of respondents say they are looking forward to the integrated commercial and transport complex for Yishun, while 43 per cent favour an upgrading of existing pedestrian malls there.
More than 60 per cent of respondents would like to have sky gardens in housing blocks, while 57 per cent opt for 'housing in a park', which promises to bring greenery even closer to public housing residents.
The exhibition, which in the past few weeks were held in locations like Toa Payoh and Woodlands, will move to Yishun and Jurong East from Saturday.
