SBS Transit has launched a campaign to encourage motorists to give way to buses exiting bus bays.

A survey conducted over 19 months by the bus provider, found that the average waiting time for buses dropped by between 38 per cent and 80 per cent when motorists gave way.

During the campaign, launched on Monday, Land Transport Authority and SBS Transit officers will be on the look out for motorists who give way to buses exiting from bus bays.

They will receive a $10 petrol voucher redeemable at any Caltex station in Singapore.

Air fresheners in the shape of a bus and carrying the 'Give Way to Buses' message will also be distributed at McDonald's drive-through outlets.

The campaign will run till Dec 15.
