Singapore appoints 2 new envoys

TWO new envoys were appointed on Wednesday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).

Mr Tan York Chor will be Singapore's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, while Mr Ow Chio Kiat will be the next Ambassador to Argentina.

Mr Tan, 49, joined the civil service in 1985 and had worked in various capacities in the Ministry of Defence and MFA.

He is currently the Director of International Organisations in MFA and wil assume his new post on 25 Nov.

Mr Ow, 62, an Executive Chairman of Stamford Land Corporation, Singapore Shipping Corporation and Cougar Logistics, will be based in Singapore.

He was the Honorary Consul-General of the Slovak Republic to Singapore from June 2001 to May this year.
