Are radio DJs getting too raunchy?

TWO recent cases of radio stations being fined raise the issue: Are DJs getting too raunchy over the air?

The laws are clear that on-air content cannot stray into sexual matters without defensible context and reasons.

But with the proliferation of radio stations over the years, the competition to reach out to listeners is also severe.

Which is why industry folks say DJs, in an effort to stand out among their peers, may take the chance to test the limits of taboo subjects like sex.

The challenge for DJs really is to offer stuff and chatter that can be deemed acceptable to both older and young listeners.
