The Straits Times

AN elderly woman was robbed at knifepoint of more than $5,000 worth of gold jewellery in a Tampines lift last Friday afternoon.

The woman, in her 60s, had entered a lift at Block 387, Tampines Street 32 at about 4.55pm with a man in his 30s.

After the lift door closed, he pointed a foldable knife at her neck and demanded that she hand over her valuables.

She gave him a gold bangle and a gold necklace valued at about $5,300.

In a separate case, a woman in her 60s fell victim to two snatch thieves at the void deck of Block 503 Bedok North Street 3.

She was on her way home in the early hours of Saturday morning when two men pushed her to the ground.

One of them snatched her green bag, which contained various cards and about $60. The pair then fled.

Anyone who has information on both cases can call the police hotline on 1800-255-0000.
