No more heavy rain, winds expected to ease: Met Service
Mon, Dec 03, 2007
The Straits Times

GOOD news for Singapore residents and year-end holidaymakers here - the Meteorological Service said the foul weather in the past two days should ease for the rest of the week.

A statement from the weatherman explained that the Northeast monsoon had brought about windy conditions in Singapore since the weekend, with wind gusts of up to 30km per hour recorded in several parts of the island.

This follows a warning issued on Saturday that "a surge of Northeast Monsoon wind could bring widespread intermittent moderate to heavy rain to Singapore" between Tuesday and Friday.

But now, the Met Service said such moderate to heavy rain has only been seen in parts of Indonesia, but not in Singapore as earlier forecast.

"The forecast of widespread moderate to heavy rain in the next few days is no longer expected in Singapore. The winds are expected to weaken in the next few days," it said.
