THE trial of Singapore Democratic Party chief Chee Soon Juan was adjourned on Wednesday after he spent yet another day on a discrepancy in a piece of photo evidence.
After Chee spent about one hour to-ing and fro-ing over the issue, the prosecutor said he would call the crime clerk as a witness to clarify.
The need for a new witness means the trial of Chee and SDP supporter Yap Keng Ho for speaking in public without a permit, will now be adjourned.
The duo allegedly committed the offence in the run up to last year's general election.
The date for resuming the trial will be fixed on Friday at a pre-trial conference.
At the resumed hearing, the crime clerk will likely be asked to explain how a picture submitted as evidence had the time it was taken recorded wrongly.
The picture in question - of SDP activities in Woodlands last year - was placed with other pictures in a paper jacket. The time printed on the jacket indicated the picture was taken at 5pm.
However, the time in the picture, showing when it was taken, states it was snapped around 3.45 pm.
In court on Wednesday, Chee spent almost his entire cross-examination of investigating officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police Jeremy Koh, on when he found out about the error and what he did about it.
