WHEN Madam Annie Lee was found floating dead in a canal near Sims Avenue in Oct 2000, she was hiding a secret life from her husband and her family.
To most of the world, Madam Lee was a 43-year-old bookshop assistant and mother. But she had a more mysterious side.
Her husband, Mr Patrick Leck, would eventually discover she was a money lender and investor, who had fronted at least $1.9 million to individuals and companies.
A coroner's inquiry that followed her death found that Madam Lee drowned and police said no foul play was suspected.
Nonetheless, Mr Leck was interviewed sometime later by the police, leaving the businessman to suspect the matter wasn't closed.
The case has since grown cold but Mr Leck's quest for answers continues.
Last week, he raised the reward for any information that would help solve his wife's case from $10,000 to $15,000, and asked the police to re-open investigations.
He believes her death could have something to do with her double-life.
'I was married to her for 19 years. But I did not know she led a double life. She was a money lender with a credit standing and a big-time investor,' said Mr Leck.
