SINGAPORE is set to unveil to the world its plans for the inaugural Youth Olympic Games when it meets the Association of National Olympic Committees in Beijing next week.
Board Chairman of the YOG Organising Committee Ng Ser Miang said this on Friday after the group's first meeting.
The Board also formally laid down its terms of reference which include using the opportunities provided by the YOG to raise sporting standards in Singapore as well as social standards of courtesy, behaviour and hospitality among Singaporeans.
It also agreed to set up five advisory committees on sports, education, culture, youth engagement and outreach as well as business and marketing, tapping into specialists in these areas.
'These specialists or advisors will be able to advise us. We can draw in expertise other than the different board members from Singapore and their job is to set up strategies for these various functional areas and to advise the full time staff of the organising committee,' said Mr Ng.
Some guidance will also be provided by the IOC Youth Olympic Department which will be in Singapore in mid-April, he added.
Mr Ng noted the team will conduct workshops to share information with Board members, key staff of the YOG and other stakeholders.
Preparations for the 2010 YOG should go into full swing by mid-year.
Meanwhile, IOC's president Jacques Rogge will be in Singapore on Friday for his first official visit. He'll be in town till Sunday.
