ALL 20 staff members and 100 children at both the Singapore-run EtonHouse preschools in Sichuan and Chengdu are safe after a 7.8-magnitude quake struck southwest China on Monday.
A spokesman for the preschool said on Tuesday that the principals of the two centres took action to ensure that the charges were returned safely to their families.
At least 10,000 people died and the toll is likely to soar, said reports on Tuesday.
The spokesman for EtonHouse told The Straits Times that both the preschools were slightly damaged, with cracks surfacing on the walls of the building.
'The schools will remain shut until the buildings have been certified safe,' she said.
The Singapore Red Cross said it is not conducting any public appeals for help as its China counterpart is self sufficient.
However, unsolicited donations from Singaporeans will be redirected to Red Cross China, said its spokesman, Ms Carol Teo.
