Tekka Market officially opens at new temporary location
Sun, May 18, 2008
The Straits Times

TEKKA Market's temporary home was officially opened on Sunday at Race Course Road - a 10 minute walk from its original site at Buffalo Road.

The temporary market houses 267 of the 538 cooked food, wet market and provision stalls which operated at the popular centre.

The latter closed for refurbishment on May 1.

The remaining stall owners have either shut for good, taken a break or moved elsewhere until the original market is ready late next year.

Almost all the stalls were seen to be open on Sunday morning, thronged with droves of patrons.

However, some stall owners say that they have experienced a business drop of about 50 to 60 per cent since moving in about two weeks ago.
