DOCTORS advised the parents to abort as the six-month old foetus was found to have a heart abnormality but the couple decided against it.
The child, born on Sept 23 last year at the KK Women's and Children's Hospital, died about three months later.
Nur Munawwara Muhammad Nur Asman, as the baby was named, never left the hospital. She had her first bypass operation on Dec 26 last year, and a second operation a week later.
On Jan 2, the parents told doctors that their child was suffering needlessly and asked them not to operate again.
She died three days later.
An autopsy revealed that she died of septicaemia with hepato-renal failure following corrective surgery for complex congenital heart disease, a coroner court heard on Tuesday.
Doctors had told her security guard father and housewife mother that the child's heart abnormalities were life threatening and that she would not survive for long without surgery.
Her parents were not at the coroner court to hear State Coroner Victor Yeo rule her death a misadventure.
