SingTel pays CEO Chua S$3.57m

SINGAPORE Telecommunications paid its CEO Chua Sock Koong S$3.57m in her first year as chief executive officer.

Ms Chua, who took the helm in April 2007, received a base pay of S$1.15 million and a bonus of S$2.34 million for the year ended March 31, SingTel said in an annual report filed late on Wednesday, said a Bloomberg report on Thursday.

Ms Chua, 50, was paid S$1.67 million a year earlier as chief financial officer, while former chief executive officer Mr Lee Hsien Yang received S$2.1 million.

Singapore Telecom's profit rose 4.8 per cent to S$3.96 billion during Ms Chua's first year as CEO, helped by gains in India, while sales climbed 11 per cent to a record S$14.8 billion, said the report.-ST
