He shopped and won

Mr. Lim Yew Beng, a 33-year-old product consultant spent $300 for a pair of Oakley glasses at Marina Square and drove away a brand new Subaru Impreza 1.5R MT.

He was the lucky winner of the Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) Shop & Win Week 4 "live" challenge held at Suntec City on June 28 where the Subaru Impreza was the top prize. The car costs $59,000 without COE, road tax and insurance.

Other prizes included Acer Aspire X3600 computers, ASA Holidays tour package, Tempur vouchers, Mitsubishi Electric W-class refrigerator, OSIM uPapa Massagers and Sona Pillows and cash.

SPH Shop & Win promotion is held in conjunction with The Great Singapore Sale from May 23 to July 20, 2008. Shoppers who made purchases at participating outlets can call the contest hotline or SMS to participate in the 8 weekly draws.

In Week 4 of this promotion, 800 participants were shortlisted from over 60,000 entries to take part in the "live" challenge. They competed with each other in an exciting car race. The cars were controlled by push-buttons and the race shown on a giant plasma screen.

There will be another "live" challenge on July 26 where the top prize is a Subaru Forester 2.0X.

Subaru, MotorImage Enterprises is the main sponsor of SPH Shop & Win promotion. The other sponsors are Tempur, Acer, ASA Holidays, Mitsubishi Electric and Osim.

"SPH Shop & Win is the most visible promotion during the GSS period. It boasts of over $200,000 worth of prizes and over 100,000 entries each year.
