GET information on Singapore on-the-go, right in the palm of your hands.

That's what Singapore's first local search and directory engine - Rednano - is offering with the launch of its Mobile Search service on Wednesday.

With this new service, users can now search for local information or even check real time traffic status through their mobile phones by connecting to Rednano's Mobile Search WAP portal http://mobile.rednano.sg..

Rednano Mobile Search via SMS 33333
The search service works by simply sms-ing a keyword to Rednano by sending it to 33333.

Take for instance, if a user wishes to obtain directory information such as the contact details of a restaurant or enterntainment outlet.

Once a keyword SMS has been sent, users will then receive an SMS reply with the address and telephone number of the company or organisation they are looking for.

Beyond just getting Directory information, users can do more: they can view a location map of the subject they are looking for with just another click, or dial directly the contact number given.

Rednano's Mobile Search puts details of over 100,000 business listings and tens of thousands of news articles in their database.

And from August 1, the service will also be for free for a limited period for subscribers of all three of Singapore's telcos - SingTel, StarHub and M1.

Users will also have free access to content such as Directory, maps and News within the Rednano portal for a limited period.

Ms Shirley Tan, Director of Business Development (Mobile), says: 'With Rednano Mobile Search, users can have localised search results literally at their fingertips anytime, anywhere.'

'It is ideal for Singaporeans who wish to manage their time better and also useful for anyone looking for their next meeting location or a restaurant nearby.'

READERS' POSTINGS
"This is great to keep overseas Singaporeans connected to home news and affairs"

"My favourite was "The Aftermath for Malaysia Election" - (in my opinion), this was a very well crafted world standard image, it is even suitable for a Time magazine cover!"
