Photography exhibition kick-starts National Day celebrations

THE six-week celebrations to mark Singapore's 43rd birthday kicked off on Wednesday with with two exhibitions on this year's National Day theme, ' Celebrating the Singapore Spirit.'

The 'Singapore My Home' photography exhibition at the National Library is a showcase of images taken by Singaporeans to capture the qualities and values that make up the Singapore Spirit.

The Heritage Festival, organised by the National Heritage Board, opened with its anchor exhibition on ' Who's Your Hero?', to involve individuals from all walks of life.

Singaporeans can expect acts flown in from Japan, France and South Korea, as well as many other international acts converging here to take part in the celebrations.

Twenty-one events ranging from street theatre, photography exhibitions, fireworks celebrations and open-air concerts will provide an exciting and entertaining range of activities for everyone to revel in the celebratory spirit of NDP 2008.
