TOYS that make you chuckle.

Thirty of them were showcased at the Science Centre Singapore on Wednesday morning at the award presentation ceremony for winners of the Sony Creative Science Award 2008 (SCSA) toy invention competition.

The contest was held in January for primary school children.

The 11th annual competition is organised by the Science Centre Singapore and the Sony Group of Companies in Singapore, with support from the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) and the Ministry of Education.

Its aim is to promote interest in science and to develop creativity among students through the process of inventing toys with a scientific touch.

Rear Admiral (NS) Lui Tuck Yew, Senior Minister of State for Ministry of Education & Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts, was the guest of honour at the event.

Projects which best captured the theme 'Make Me Laugh', and which demonstrated scientific principles were given awards.
